Christmas Eve with Ms. Amy
Ms. Amy invited our family to attend the Christmas Pageant at her church and to dinner at her house. We had a GREAT time! Thank you!
Christmas Eve
and home alone. By choice, but home alone, none-the-less. It's been a stressful week around our house with the news that Nutz is deploying for a year. He'll most likely miss the birth of his son and the first 10 months of his life. I've not slept and I've cried more tears than I knew possible. I'm one of those "what if" people so I worry about everything. The holidays have always been a stressful time for me, don't know why, but they have been. So put the news and the holidays together and you have one stressed out Crackerz. Oh yeah! I'm pregnant so add the crazy hormones, too.
I digress. If I'm not laughing, smiling, and being full of glee, don't take it personally. Just realize that I have a lot going on in my life right now and entertaining you and worrying about how you feel is not at the top of my list. There might be a day when I want to stay in my pjs all day and cry. Let me. I may be fine one minute and crying the next. Let me. Don't tell me that everything will be alright, I know that. Don't tell me that I'll have lots of people to help. I know that. But I'm sorry, it's not the same when it's not your husband and the father of your child. Don't ask me what you can do, just do it. What is "it"? I don't care, do something. If I have to take the time to tell you what to do then I might as well do it myself. If I want to stay in my room and not be social, don't take it personally, there's a reason. And, it's probably because I want to cry and I don't like an audience. If I go to bed before you, don't take it personally. I always go to bed early.
Bottom line, just because I don't act like you (happy and smiling all the time) doesn't mean I don't love you and don't accept you for you. Accept me for who I am (grouchy and all). If not, well, there's not much I can do about it.

CC's Big Girl Bed
As you know, we have a new baby on the way. Since we heard the news of Nutz's deployment, I hesitated moving CC at the same time her daddy leaves and a new baby arrives. However, we found this great bed from Flexa. So, the moving process will begin mid-January when the new bed should come in and while Nutz is still around. CC LOVED the bed and picked it out herself. Hopefully, she won't associate daddy leaving and baby brother arriving with being "kicked out" of her crib and nursery.

My Special Birthday
When I woke up on my birthday, this is what I found on the dining room table: flowers, balloon, birthday card, presents, "I love you" coffee cup with tea bag, and homemade blueberry muffins! I have the BEST husband!
For dinner, he took me to Ruths Chris; one of my all-time favorite places to eat!
I love you, Nutz!

Thank you!
Tonight, Nutz made arrangements for the Behr family to watch Regan while we went out to dinner for my birthday. Chris said she was a riot.
While there, CC did some pretty funny stuff:
While there, CC did some pretty funny stuff:
- Played school and read books (she's a bossy teacher)
- Told Uncle Larry that he was being too loud
- Had a bugger (yes you read correctly) on her finger and told Aunt Chris. But then informed Aunt Chris that it was too late; "It" had fallen on the floor (or couch). GROSS!
- When asked if she wanted a fire in the fireplace, she said "No, I'm scared of fires like my daddy." Hmmm...didn't know she was scared of fires.
CC Plays Doctor
We took CC with us to the ultrasound and my last OB appointment. Since then, she wants to play doctor. She puts on the headset for the computer and uses the microphone as the "stethoscope" to listen to my belly. This afternoon, she wanted to be the "doctor" and told me to sit on the couch. She pulled up my shirt, got some pretend "soap" (she meant the gel used during ultrasounds), and proceed to move the microphone (ultrasound wand) over my stomach. She pointed to the wall and said, "look mommy, it's my baby brother." This is exactly what happened in the doctor's office. Super sweet!

CC's First Gingerbread House
This year, I decided to let CC make a gingerbread house. She had a blast. Check out the pictures. It's currently being "fixed." Once it's healed, she'll finish decorating and I'll take a picture of the final product.

Do you have an "attitude of gratitude"?

I got this link from a friend's blog. I'm going to work hard to develop an attitude of gratitude. 2010 will provide us with many challenges (and happy moments like a new baby boy) and a chance for me to practice my new "attitude with gratitude."

She makes my heart melt!
This morning CC and I were snuggling on the couch before we had to get ready for school and work. She looked up at me and said, "mommy, I love you." Yep, made me cry! I love you, too!

The Behr Family Comes "Home"
We are so excited that the Behr family is moving back to VA. So excited, that we decided to surprise them with a decorated Christmas tree. Shh! Don't tell them, it's a secret.
CC was supposed to help decorate but she decided to take a 2 hour nap instead.

Cheeseburger Soup
Tonight I decided to try something new. So, I searched the Internet for a cheeseburger soup recipe to get me started. I made some changes (and will make some more next time just because I think they sound good). To see the recipe with my changes, go to our cookbook.
CC's Latest Artwork...
just happens to be on her face. Yes, you read right. This morning before school, CC decided to color. However, rather than color on the paper she had, she decided to use her face.

Girl's Weekend
This past weekend, I met some girlfriends in Fredericksburg, VA. We enjoyed the first snow of the season; just in time to put us in the holiday spirit. And, we were able to watch the annual Christmas parade from the warmth of the local Irish Pub.
Here are a few pictures from our trip.

November Nor'easter
Once again, we survived another storm and feel very fortunate. It's hard to believe that we live across the street from the Chesapeake Bay and had NO flooding, NO wind damage, AND we never lost power (okay, for 3-4 minutes at one point Thursday night).
Yesterday, we had to drive to my office so I could get some items before my trip to TX. It was quite the adventure and I'm glad we took the jeep. What is typically a 15 minute, easy drive turned into an off-road adventure, or so it seemed.
To see the pictures we took, go to our online album. To see pictures that other people around HR took, go to the Wavy website.

Our Trip to Austin
Mommy had a conference in Austin, so daddy and I decided to "tag along." While mommy attended the conference sessions, daddy and I did some sightseeing of the beautiful Texas Capitol of Austin. While there, we were able to meet up with some of my daddy's cousins. It was great! After the conference ended, we took a quick trip to San Antonio. While there, we took a boat ride on the San Antonio Riverwalk. We also visited the Natural Bridge Wildlife Branch. We were able to drive the car through the park and I could feed the animals through the window. It was so much fun!
Enjoy the pictures!

Living Large In Texas!
Crazy Crumbz is a good traveler and she is having fun here in Texas looking at all the pick up trucks! We heard and ad on the radio for a 2010 $15,000 Ford F-150 and we almost purchased one! Check Back frequently as we add more photos!

Our Trip to Tennessee
This past weekend, we took a trip to TN to see our good friend, Craig and his wife, Laurie.
Our trip started out with a broke down car, tow truck, and rental car. In under two hours, we were back on the road. On our way home, we decided to take the "scenic" route and boy was it scenic. Instead of driving straight through, we spent the night in Martinsville. On our way home on Monday, we completely missed our road and ended up going almost 2 hours out of our way. Oh well! We had a nice family trip and CC is quite the traveler!
Thanks Craig and Laurie for a great visit! Come see us soon!

First School Altercation??
Today at school, a little boy bit CC on the arm. She did confess that she pushed him first. I'm confident that she can take care of herself but we do need to work on the pushing. She can be aggressive at times.

So there we were...
watching Glenn Beck when CC goes to the bathroom and closes the door. She comes out a few seconds later with her pants off and wearing just a diaper. She says "pee pee." The she goes back in and says "be right back," closes and locks the door!
You can hear though the door, the velcro from the diaper getting pulled off, a plop into the garbage can, the little pee seat slide around, the toilet flush, and little CC comes out with a big smile on her face. She got a high 5 from daddy and momma, as well. What a big girl! She even dumped the pee seat into the toilet and turned out the light!! Awesome!!

Pretty as a Penny
I like getting hair cuts from my favorite hairdresser "Penny" She makes me look even more beautiful. Especially when she braids my hair. I don't let momma and daddy do that, cuz they are not "professionals"!
Barf a ram a
So there we were the other night, all of us snuggled up in the bed. Little CC was between momma and daddy. Along came the "witching hour" and little CC began coughing and hacking at ten minutes to two am. Momma of course woke up to see what was the matter. As how it is common place, she had to wake up daddy to ensure all is good and well with the world. As it would be, little CC swallowed something wrong and began to heave like she was getting ready to hurl like a drunken sailor. Momma goes eek she is going to puke. Daddy goes eek get something. Momma runs to the barfroom, I mean bathroom, daddy shoulders little CC and Ralf bought a Buick all over daddy's chest. Momma was so impressed! Little CC was miserable, she did not feel well, had yack in her beautiful golden locks and smelled like the armpit of a sailor on liberty in Tijuana!
Everyone loves 2am!
So, between yacks we got the little one cleaned up, eventually CC and daddy took a shower together. Last time I showered with a woman... well lets juts leave that one alone. Anyhow all were fresh and clean and watching the RedEye on FNC.
We are happy to say that this was CC's first yack session as a child. I hope that they will be few and far between, especially the 2am yacks. However, if she is anything like her mother, which I am afraid she is, the 2am yacks will be bit more frequent as she ages.
Although I give momma some grief, she did do quite well with the young one and stayed up for the rest of the morning... Well ok, she usually gets out of bed around 3am so what is an extra hour?! :) love ya babe!

Smarty Pants
CC handed me her cell phone (play phone, of course). So, I acted like I was talking to someone on the phone. I then gave the phone back to her and told her that it was the president on the phone. She promptly said, "Hello Obama."
My favorite: "CC, who is the best president ever?" She replies "Ronald Reagan." :-)
Yes, her daddy has been teaching her about US government. She's going to be smart like him.

Crazy Crumbz has been chatting away now and today she brought a tear to my eye. As I was drying her off after her bath, as usual, I held her up to the mirror and asked her where the pretty baby was. I gave her a squeeze and said "I love you!" She promptly replied with a neck hug, "I love you too daddy!"

Daddy's Little Girl
Well it appears that CC is a bit of a night owl like her father. We were recently away from our local settings sitting in a dark hotel room this past weekend. As to be expected, momma was comatose as how it was 845pm. CC and I were watching "Eagle Eye" and in the opening minutes there was a decent car chase. As two cars collided and erupted into flames, CC exclaimed "Oh wow!" Needless to say, she was hooked and stayed up with daddy until 1045pm watching TV. Bad daddy, bad! However as things would have it, the apple does not fall far from the tree. With 7 minutes of turning off all the lights, she was done... sweet dreams!

Trip to NoVA
This past weekend, mommy and daddy took me to NoVA, specifically Alexandria. Mommy was able to get a really good price at the Westin, so we stayed there. On Friday night, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant: I had yummy cheese and pepperoni pizza. After dinner, we went swimming in the hotel pool! I love the pool and daddy makes it so much fun.
On Saturday, we had breakfast, if you want to call it that, at the nearby Starbucks. For the record, I do NOT like organic chocolate milk. YUCK! Afterwards, daddy had some work to do so mommy and I enjoyed a nice walk in Old Town Alexandria. We ordered lunch at a local deli and took it back to the room. I was so tired that I took a nice long nap. I love blackout curtains. I wonder if mommy will get some for my room. When daddy returned, the three of us took another walk through Old Town in search of something good to eat. We had dinner at a local tapas restaurant; it was delicious. After dinner, we walked back to the hotel in the rain (not too bad) and enjoyed a swim in the pool before watching a movie with mommy and daddy.
Sunday morning we were up early to drive to Annapolis for breakfast before heading home via the Eastern Shore. When you see people waiting outside for the restaurant to open, you know it must be good. So, we ate breakfast at McGarvey's. Then we took a nice stroll around the harbor; mommy bought a couple of items at the Black and White store.
The trip was fun but I was glad to get home to my toys and my bed. Thanks mommy and daddy for a fun trip. Off to FL in a couple of days!

Needless to say we are proud parents and our little girl is growing, learning and talking up a storm. I would like to take credit with this as how she has not only my astonishing good looks and my superior intelligence, however momma told me she locked CC in the closet for a few days with the ABC song on repeat! You be the judge.... I think maybe it was momma superior intelligence?

4th of July
This year, we spent the 4th of July on grandpa's sailboat with Uncle Keith and Aunt Chandy. We left the marina Saturday morning and enjoyed a leisurely trip to "our spot" on the river in downtown. We hung out on the boat: eating, talking, drinking, and swimming for some. At 9:30, the fireworks started. And, did we have a GREAT seat! The fireworks barge was about 120 yards from the boat. Not only could we hear the fireworks taking off from the barge, we could feel the boom. There were also some fireworks that seemed to be pointed to the water. They skipped like rocks...very cool. This was my first time seeing fireworks and it was spectacular. I'm not sure how mommy and daddy are going to top this one. It was a late night for me but I enjoyed hanging out on the bow of the boat watching the fireworks as I snuggled in daddy's lap. Mommy and I slept in the cabin while daddy, Aunt Chandy, and Uncle Keith slept topside. I think Aunt Chandy came to the cabin during the night. We woke up this morning and headed back to the marine. In fact, we got back just before the rain started; perfect timing! We had a great time and I can't wait to do another overnight trip on the boat.

Super Excited
It's purely selfish on my part, but I'm SO VERY EXCITED that our good friends the Behr's will be moving back and that the Arana's will be staying. Can you believe we've known each other for almost 7 years?! Where has the time gone? I have so many GREAT memories with the two of you! Thank you for being such GREAT friends! I love you both!
I see a girls night out when you get back, Chris. The guys can do a daddy/daughter night. :-)
Enjoy the video. By no means does it include ALL of the hundreds of pictures I have of us through the years, but the pictures I chose hit the highlights!

My First Sailing Trip

Father's Day
We had a nice Father's Day today. My good friends (Sofia, Stella, and Silvia) came over so we could play. Sofia and I swam in the pool while Stella took a nap in the car. Mommy and Aunt Laura sat on the front porch to be near her in case she woke up. I think they were enjoying a drink, too. Daddy fixed ribs, mommy made beans and a salad, and Aunt Laura made a yummy pasta salad. Needless to say, we had plenty to eat. Once the parents determined that it wasn't going to rain, they took us to the beach where you can see that we had a great time! Sofia LOVED the waves, Stella liked the water, too. But me, I let the waves come to me. Silvia didn't like her feet to touch the sand. It was funny to watch Aunt Laura try to put her down.
We had a GREAT time and I love "stella and foo foo." Mommy note: CC refers to Stella and Sofia as "stella and foo foo." It's super cute!

Today was our (mine and Ben's) birthday party at JW Tumbles. It was so much fun! Thanks to everyone for coming: Sofia, Stella, Silvia, Brayden, Kennedy, Bella, Michael, Ryan, Maiya, Adelyn, Evan, Nate (Ben's little brother), and Bermuda. Grandpa, grandma and Ms. Amy were there, too!
Enjoy the pictures! Video coming soon...

Daddy's First Country Music Concert
and it was GEORGE STRAIT, my FAVORITE country music singer of all time. When I first found out he was coming to our area (which was a first for him), I immediately looked to see when tickets were going on sale. Well, I was going to be at another engagement with no Internet AND I didn't know if we'd have anyone to watch CC, so I just decided that it wasn't meant to be for me to attend the concert.
Fast forward to Friday, June 12. I was running errands in preparation for CC's birthday party and every song on the radio was George Strait. So, I called Nutz and asked if he wanted to go AND if grandma and grandpa might watch CC. Yes and yes! I immediately went online and bought 2 lawn tickets; thank goodness the concert wasn't sold out.
George was FANTASTIC! It seems like he just gets better with age. The first time I saw him was in 1986 (I think that's the correct year). His first single, Unwound, debuted in 1981 so George was still fairly new to Country Music. I remember the concert like it was yesterday. It was a warm afternoon in Plant City, FL at the annual Strawberry Festival. George was super cute and I loved his belt buckle and BUTT. I took plenty of pictures and will "dig them out" one of these days. This was the first of many George Strait concerts for me. The last two concerts I attended were in Tampa (1995) and Orlando (1996). At the Tampa show I had 2nd row seats and at the Orlando show I had front row seats. You may ask, "how did you get those"? Well, I was a member of the fan club and each September when tickets went on sale, I took the day off from work (teaching at the time) and drove 2 hours (to Tampa or Orlando) to stand in line. Fan Club members were able to purchase tickets before the general public. George Strait made it all worthwhile standing in line in the hot sun.
Thanks grandma and granpa for hanging out with Regan so I could see my all-time favorite country music singer AND so I could take my sweet Yankee husband to his first country music concert. I think he enjoyed himself (minus me singing the words to everysong). Oh yeah, not just me singing the words to every song but the entire audience. I had no idea there were so many George Strait fans in the area but I sure am glad there are. I hope he decides to make a return trip.
A great date night: Nutz and George! :-)

I turned 2!
Today was my 2nd birthday! I sure am getting old. Thank you to everyone who called to wish me a happy birthday and thanks for all the great birthday presents.
CC likes MUCH older boys!
Who would have thought that our precious daughter would be "in like" at two years old. This past weekend, grandma, grandpa, and Aunt Steph came to visit. Grandma brought along one of her students, Daniel. He was so good with CC that she fell madly in like with him. Daniel is enjoying a week on the sailboat with grandma, grandpa, and Steph.
Tonight when they (grandma, grandpa, Aunt Steph, and Daniel) called to wish CC a happy birthday, the only person she really wanted to talk to was "daniel." Then, when he got on the phone she started giggling and running around the room like a crazy girl. It was cute!
Thanks, Daniel for being so sweet to CC and congratulations on your graduation!

My First Braid
This afternoon while mommy worked, daddy let me go to the barber shop with him to get his hair cut. While there, I decided to let the nice lady braid my hair. Keep in mind, I don't like for my hair to be brushed and I don't like it up.
Daddy took pictures for mommy so she could see how pretty my hair looked. Oh yeah! You're also going to see some pictures of me pitching a fit because I wanted to take pictures with the camera. You gotta love us toddlers!

My First Name
Usually, CC lets me know that she's awake in the morning with a "momma, where are you?" Well, this morning I heard her yelling for me by my first name. Yes, you can imagine my surprise. When I entered her room she was so happy to see me. She was standing in her crib with a big smile on her face. We went back and forth a couple of times with me telling her that I was mommy and she telling me that I was "insert first name."
