CC's had a fever all weekend so this morning I took her to the pediatrician; she has her first ear infection. So, for the next few days she'll be taking her Amoxicillin twice a day.
While there, the doc told us that her four molars were swollen and that one had broken through. He (different pediatrician than her regular one) said that as a new doctor he didn't believe there was a correlation between teething and ear problems. However, over the years he's seen enough to know that some children do develop ear infections/aches when teething. Could this be CC?

We're so sorry! You may want to give her 1/2 cup of whole milk yogurt every day while she's on the antibiotics, to keep diarrhea at bay. If she develops diarrhea anyway, I recommend plain (not mint flavored!) Milk of Magnesia mixed with your diaper cream and spread on her butt at each diaper change. It helps neutralize the acidic poopy. (We have a lot of experience with ear infections and antibiotics!)
Ben started teething with his molars on Saturday. He's been a sad puppy.
Benson's Bottom Paint is anothter really good cream for those tender bunners. (That and a product called triple paste but the benson's is easier to get. Many of the day care children I have worked with developed ear infections when cutting teeth. I wish there were some magic quicky cure.
