Birth Pool Winner
Well to be quite honest... i was a little disappointed with the whole birth pool thing a bit of a let down :( Anyhow the winner was MA D. She chose wisely. So what does the winner get?? Well no one sent any $$ so the IRS will be happy! As a reward, well just the pride of knowing you had the best foresight of a group of individuals.

4-5CM
Something about the whole metric system and the diameter of a bell jar??? The latest estimate from the attending nurse 4-5CM dilated... what ever that means
Upjohn..
Did i ever tell you about the friend of mine who works for Upjohn in Kalamazoo? Anyhow he is one of the corporate A&P mechanics and I guess he really like his job. A family joint that takes good care of their employees. Anyhow Upjohn is a pharmaceutical company in Kazoo and they make some damn good drugs..The Epidural is "in" after a little fadiddling by the "crack ho" our anesthesiologist. Interesting process I dont think I want a needle in my spine any time soon. Crackerz also has a cathater in. I guess the "tube" is unisex. Although this would be a good thing for a heavy night of drinking at a packed bar, I dont want that anytime soon either.
yet i digress... The epidural is doing its magic and momma is much more comfortable! that is the key...
For entertainment we have been polling the nurses as to some of the more "unique" baby names that have seen or come across.... One of my favorites high up on the list... "Shithead" seriously... pronounced "shi-tead" however spelled the more popular way. Another good one is "Ice tea sweet baby jesus" serious! After a few of these H. Louis does not sound too bad for a boys name!
Is it wrong for me to comment about things here... i will keep some comments to myself....

Rounding 3rd base...
Well it looks like things are happening.. Momma is plugged into R2D2 the petosine drip was started around 6am, the midwife just broke the water and the epidural has been ordered. Momma is loving the contractions... cool...

Induction Scheduled...
Well, we are currently scheduled to go to the hospital tonight at 8 to start the induction process. If you're not familiar with that process, you can read more on the Baby Center Web site.
We've got to call the hospital at 6:30 to make sure they have a room for me...once I know for sure that "it's a go", I'll post a note here.

Too funny not to share...
Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing this funny story.
My mother taught me to read when I was four years old (her first mistake). One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the cabinet doors was ajar. I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was keeping 'napkins' in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in
the kitchen?
Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that those were for "special occasions" (her second mistake).
Now fast forward a few months ... It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone. Mine was to set the table.
When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter.
Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a "special occasion" Kotex napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge!!
My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter. "But, Mom, you said they were for special occasions!!!"

Doctor's Visit
Everything is fine with CC...I'm huge but feeling pretty good for being 40 weeks 4 days pregnant.
It was hard to see anything on the ultrasound since she's taking up most of the space. She's not too big (whatever that means) and is still moving around quite a bit (especially at night when I want to sleep).
Stay tuned....

June 6 Update
I had my non-stress test yesterday and everything is fine with CC and this morning I go for my ultrasound. Right now, it looks like I'll go to the hospital Thursday night and we'll have a baby on Friday (hopefully). She could, of course, decide to come earlier.
Stay tuned...

June 4 Update
I had a doctor's appointment this morning...still no change. So, I have a busy week in store for me: tomorrow I have a stress test to check on the baby; Wednesday an ultrasound to check on the baby; and Thursday (if they can get me a room) they'll start the induction process. I should hear more from the nurse today or tomorrow about that. If they can't get me in Thursday night then they'll try Friday...if not Friday then Saturday. I promise...we'll make sure to keep everyone updated!

Gotta love kids...
Period...
A kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out something 'exciting' and relate it to the class the next day.
When the time came to present what they'd found, the first little boy the teacher called on walked up to the front of the class and with a piece of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard and then sat back down.
Puzzled, the teacher asked him what it was. "It's a period," he replied.
"I can see that," said the teacher, "but what is so 'exciting' about a period?" "Darned if I know," he said, "but this morning my sister was 'missing' one. Mommy fainted; daddy had a heart attack, and the boy next door joined the Army.

The full moon...
had no influence on CCs arrival. Nutz and I were sure that she'd want to come on a beautiful full blue moon. NOPE! She already has a mind of her own. So, here it is Friday, June 1 and still no CC.
My next appointment is Monday...assuming she doesn't show her cute face over the weekend. If so, they will schedule an induction. They don't want me to go past 42 weeks.

6 days...
and no baby! Yesterday, Nutz and I spent the day with my uncle and his family at the beach. It was an interesting sight...a 9 month pregnant lady in a non-maternity bathing suit. :-) NOTE: There is NO picture to document this day.

Happy Memorial Day!

Monday is an important day...Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. If you see someone selling red poppies, remember, we wear red poppies on Memorial day in honor of those who died serving the nation during war.
Thanks to all who died in service to our GREAT country and to the families who lost their loved ones.
8 days...nothing new to report
other than my being EXTREMELY pregnant. As excited as I am about meeting CC, I'd rather her "cook" as long as she needs so that she's healthy when she gets here.
Happy Memorial Day!

The Milk Memos
A co-worker recently gave me the book, The Milk Memos. It's really good for mom's who'll be going back to work but want to continue breastfeeding. This morning, I ran across their website, http://www.milkmemos.com/. So, if you're interested, check it out.

Should children witness childbirth?
This is hilarious!!
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-year-old girl to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked.
Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year-old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place...smack his ass again!"

CC and Crackerz...Chinese Zodiac -- Year of the Pig
The Year of the Pig

1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007
People born in the Year of the Pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. For Boar Year people, there is no left or right and there is no retreat. They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They don't make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. They don't talk much but have a great thirst for knowledge. They study a great deal and are generally well informed. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. No matter how bad problems seem to be, Boar people try to work them out, honestly if sometimes impulsively. They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.
Doctor's Appointment Update
My appointment went well...blood pressure is good, weight is good, baby's heartrate is good, etc.
At this time, I am 80% effaced. For those of you who aren't sure what that means, go to http://www.americanpregnancy.org/labornbirth/effacement.html.
Let's hope she doesn't decide to arrive this weekend...Nutz will be out of town.

Update
I had my weekly appointment yesterday...everything is still going good. As for progression, NONE. She's just not ready yet. We have 3 weeks...I'm in no rush. :-)
Pediatrician...
Yesterday, Nutz and I met with CC's pediatrician-to-be. Yes, you heard right. She met with us prior to her birth to get to know us and answer any questions we had. We have a couple of friends who take their children to the same practice and love it there. So, once CC arrives, the doctor will come to the hospital to see her...sounds like a good plan to me.

I can't believe that CC will be here soon...27 days (give or take a few days). I'm starting to get nervous. If Nutz is, he's hiding it well.
Yesterday we went to Babys R' Us to get a few items we still needed....which isn't much...thanks to our family and friends.

Love the chin...
Believe it or not...
I'm going to be able to get all of the shower gifts to VA. I've got 3 bags (1 suitcase and 2 large duffel bags) to check on the plane. FYI - Southwest let's you check 3 bags per person. The other items, I'll be shipping FedEx to my house. Guess it's cheaper than gas.
Thanks to everyone who played a part in the wonderful shower given by Amy and Marcella.
Love you all --

not really. We attended an open house on Sunday night for Studio Rio, a local exercise place. I swear, it really is good exercise. Anyways, while there, Nutz decided to do one of his famous handstands. It looks like he's done this before. :-)
